General Manager

Hotel Elysium is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hospitality-driven General Manager to help lead the opening and operations of a new boutique hotel destination in the heart of downtown Ely, Minnesota. This is a rare opportunity to help shape and grow a one-of-a-kind hospitality experience featuring a luxury spa, restaurant, cocktail program, ballroom/event space, and vinyl speakeasy bar in the Northwoods.

Position Overview :

  • The General Manager will oversee all aspects of hotel operations and serve as the primary leader for the property.
  • This role requires strong operational knowledge, leadership, communication, organization, and the ability to create memorable guest experiences while managing a high-performing team.
  • The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, calm under pressure, and passionate about hospitality, food & beverage, events, and boutique hotel culture.

Key Responsiblities :

  • Oversee the daily operations of all hotel departments.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and lead hotel staff across front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, events, maintenance, and guest services.
  • Build and maintain a strong, team-oriented workplace culture
  • Ensure exceptional guest experiences and service standards throughout the property
  • Coordinate hotel operations including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, inventory, and labor management

Job Requiements :

  • 3–5+ years of hotel or hospitality management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing teams in fast-paced hospitality environments.
  • Experience using Toast POS or similar hospitality point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel/spreadsheets, email platforms, and general computer systems
